The colorful Red Devil buses are very common mode of transportation in Panama. These very colorful and inexpensive graffiti type painted buses were purchased from the US. At one time these buses transported children to and from school somewhere in the US.

As you can see the ship named United Banner is in the 2nd lock, (of the Panama Canal) having already been raised 28 feet. The next process it to enter another lock where the ship is raised an additional 28 feet to reach Gatun Lake. The three locks of Gatun will raise the ship a total of 85 feet above sea level. Seen here, once the ship is safe in one of the locks, the canal operator extends a bridge in order for traffic transit across the canal.

Also in this image, is the famous electric mules that keep the ship centered in the locks while the locks fill with water from Gatun lake. Their job is not to pull the ship, but rather to keep the ship from hitting the canal walls.
